We are sorry to tell you that, in accordance with the Government’s directive, HOPE will now be closed until further notice. Our crops – including our lovely potatoes – are growing well. We’re keeping them watered and healthy. Because of COVID-19, we have decided that our produce will be sent to vulnerable families in Arbroath throughout the summer, as part of the Reach Across project.
As of the beginning of June, we have donated the following to Reach Across: rhubarb (9.3 kg) lettuce (6 kg) green kale (5 kg) black kale (6.5 kg) Swiss chard (1.8 kg) leeks (4.6 kg) radishes (2.6 kg) red kale (1.8 kg) coriander herb pots (6) rocket salad pots (14) and chive herb pots (6). Now summer is here, we are donating mostly salad and green crops, as well as broad beans, whole lettuces and peas.
Meanwhile look after yourselves and keep well. We look forward to welcoming you back to HOPE as and when the situation changes.
HOPE is a thriving organic garden on Scotland’s east coast. It is an environmentally friendly project, providing horticulture training and work experience. All our trainees are people with learning disabilities who live in the Angus area. HOPE has a positive and growing profile in the community, and our shop in the garden sells the organic vegetables and fruit that we grow.
